As a Sr. Engineer - Data Systems at Ally you will use inside-out thinking to develop & modernize of our customer data platform, cloud data lake, and cloud data warehouse to create a next generation data platform that enhances the Ally experience and ensures our offerings are viable and secure.

The Work Itself

  • Managing junior engineers and analytics professionals to design and deliver solutions in an Agile context.
  • Conduct Data Profiling in support of the design and testing processes.
  • Troubleshooting of jobs and addressing production issues like data issues, environmental issues, performance tuning and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with the data owners from the line of businesses (LOB) to define data transformation and data integration rules to build the program in support of data integration.
  • Manage risk by developing and enforcing data security policies.
  • Participate in the requirement gathering process and develop complex source to target mapping rules.
  • Create ETL flows to Integrate the On-Prem data to Cloud Snowflake warehouse using PySpark/SnowSql/Qlik Replicate.
  • Develop reconciliation programs to monitor the integrity of the production system data.
  • Ensure compliance to Enterprise Data Governance policies and standards while defining the data definition and data quality framework for Master Data Management.
  • Extract, transform, and load data from various Databases, Sequential files, XML documents.
  • Use relevant test types and develop test strategy for all data integration scenarios.

The Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related experience.
  • Experience working in an Agile delivery environment.
  • 3+ years of experience in RDBMS, Unix and Oracle.
  • Knowledge of all phases of software development including design, coding, testing, debugging, implementation, and support.
  • Comfortable working independently but has experience working in a team environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Experience with Gitlab including deployment pipelines.
  • Desire to work within a diverse group of people and a passion for challenging the status quo.
  • Minimum 2 years working experience in AWS utilizing services such as S3, EC2, Lambda and Airflow.
  • Passionate for continuous learning, experimenting, applying, and contributing towards cutting edge technologies. #li-hyrbid
  • Ability to work closely with customers in analyzing requirements.
  • 3+ years of experience within data engineering experience using IBM InfoSphere 11.5 with a focus on analytics & data warehouse environments.
  • Intermediate knowledge of statistics, and skills with exploratory data analysis using Python and basic knowledge in Snowflake is highly desirable.
