Who We’re Looking For - Reporting to the Director, Product Development (wet goods), we are searching for a Senior Chemist who will be responsible for formula development in personal care products. This person will Lead the effort behind new formulation by performing lab scale experiments, evaluating compatibility of new raw materials, and perform product stability. Maintains awareness of raw material technology, processing methodology, trend ingredients, and scientific literature, to create innovative formulas. Finds technical solutions for formula and process development. Understanding of international raw material restrictions and developing contingency plans for formulation. Manages fragrance development with suppliers, and Product Development. Oversees safe and orderly laboratory. Reporting to the Product Development Director of Formulations. Working Hybrid Remote/Inhouse Lab.

Responsibilities:

• Communicates to supervisor important observations in the formula and process development and is open-minded to suggestions and test results in an effective manner
• Can manage workload effectively with defined agreement on total number of active formulations
• Provides direction and leadership with external R&D and Process development, in addition to formula and process documentation evaluation and approval
• Develops new skincare and haircare formulations for in-house formulation development including Formula Development submissions, ingredient/raw material recommendations, formula testing, and fragrances development
• Responsible for documenting and interpreting data to support conclusions with minimal supervision
• Other duties as needed
• Creates formulas independently and follows-up on product stability
• Working with both domestic and international manufacturers on formula sample reviews, ingredient lists, and the overall technical transfer process
• Meets deadlines and interacts well with various partner teams and vendors within R&D

Qualifications:

• Experienced at least 7+ years in the laboratory environment, ideally supporting a brand in CPG industry
• Strong experience crafting technical solutions for formula and process development
• Experience managing fragrance development with suppliers, and Product Development. Oversees safe and orderly laboratory. Working Hybrid Remote/Inhouse Lab
• Continuous curiosity and awareness of raw material technology, processing methodology, trend ingredients, and scientific literature to create innovative formulas
• Knowledgeable and considers the importance of processing, operating, and design factors that affect skincare and haircare formulations
• Understanding of international raw material restrictions
• Displays passion for formulation development
• Experience in leadership role within R&D
• Graduate Degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or related field required
