Chemours is seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to join our growing Advanced Performance Materials team. This position will be available at the Chemours Washington Works facility located in Parkersburg, WV and report directly to the Manufacturing Technology Manager - Melts.
This role will serve as a Chemical Engineer for the Chemours Assets at Washington Works. The individual will provide overall Chemical Engineering guidance and support for the Operations, Maintenance, and Technology Teams in the Melts Area. This will entail involvement in day-to-day troubleshooting in the plant, as well as support for improvement programs in the areas of Process Improvements, UPTIME, reliability, cost, safety, new capital installations, etc.
The Melts Operating Unit is designated as a high hazard process. Individual unit operations include but are not limited to: reactors, pumps, piping, tanks, dryers, heat exchangers, filtration, scrubbing, extrusion, etc.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Travel requirements are less than 10%
  • Recommend and implement solutions to drive continuous improvement
  • Act as a Chemical Engineering resource
  • Participate in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA)
  • Provide environmental support
  • Assist with recommendations for day-to-day troubleshooting
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations
  • Lead capital projects for various improvements
The following is required for this role:
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of typical equipment used in a Chemical Plant (i.e. pumps, compressors, piping, distillation columns, reactors, refrigeration machines, etc.)
  • Good Oral and Written skills
  • Willing and able to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toes, hard hat, Nomex, eye protection, respirators, etc.
  • BS in Chemical Engineering
  • Five years or more of engineering experience
The following is preferred for this role:
  • 10 years or more of experience in a chemical manufacturing process
  • Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) Certification
  • Experience leading/participating in Process Hazards Analyses
