Job Description
  • 7+ years of experience in semiconductor RF or mixed-signal test engineering, preferably in high-volume consumer devices manufacturing.
  • 5+ years of operations team leadership experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical/communications engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Up to 10% domestic or international travel required.

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Come work at Amazon!
As the leader of Kuiper’s Silicon Test Engineering team, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive, design, and scale innovative semiconductor product manufacturing solutions for Kuiper’s custom RF SoC silicon. You will work closely with internal inter-disciplinary teams and third-party suppliers to drive key aspects of reliability, quality and test system definition, design, and deployment. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.

Key job responsibilities
  • Conduct failure analysis and drive issue resolutions as well as close potential test gaps and correlations issues throughout the supply and manufacturing chains.
  • Actively identify test related readiness issues, and optimizations throughout the product lifecycle and work towards expedient resolutions.
  • Specify bench and production test plans for chips, and review measurement results.
  • Develop and monitor quality and reliability policies of foundries and OSATs in conjunction with the packaging team.
  • Drive interactions with suppliers such as foundries and OSATs to complete engineering programs for wafer test, final test, qualification, and burn-in.
  • Collaborate with silicon design and engineering partners to ensure that quality, reliability, and testability are properly considering during the design phase.
  • Own the optimization, standardization, and improvement of test methodologies to enhance operational efficiency in production, ensure product quality, and minimize cost.
  • Work with automated mm-wave test systems to correlate lab bench and automated test results.
  • Build and lead a silicon manufacturing team consisting of test/product engineers and quality/reliability experts. Scale the team to support very high-volume production.
  • Work with business and legal teams to write SoWs for supplier contracts, and negotiate supplier contracts.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop organizational talent to build on our existing team of test engineering professionals.

  • Excellent organization skills, including experience managing test engineering teams.
  • Masters or PhD degree in Electrical / Communications Engineering or related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Strong technical background in one or more of the following:
  • Supplier and OSAT Management and contract negotiation.
  • Understanding of DUT firmware usage in the ATE environment.
  • New product transition from design phase into high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Wireless SoC manufacturing, assembly, and test, qualification and burn-in processes, and hands on experience with failure analysis.
  • Production control processes, data interpretation/analysis, Cp/Cpk, bench/tester correlation analysis, automated data analysis systems for high volumes of data.
  • All aspects of silicon manufacturing bring up: hardware development, silicon debug, silicon design characterization, Design for Test (DfT), qualification, reliability, and release to production.
  • Current and upcoming RF standards in cellular (4G/5G NR), WiMAX, 802.11ad, microwave backhaul, or similar broadband wireless standards.
  • Testing of beamforming systems: MIMO, 60GHz, satellite communications.
  • Firmware deployment and troubleshooting as part of test program.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Development of automation tools using C, C++, and Python programming languages.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $324,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
