The Team You’ll Work With:
The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Strategic Initiatives ensures that City government solves problems through holistic, accountable, and transparent means. With a focus on many of the administration’s top priorities – from creating opportunities for young people to strengthening the city’s civic infrastructure – the office works in partnership with stakeholders inside and outside of city government to develop, scale, coordinate, and deliver policies, plans and operations in an equitable and sustainable way.
The Deputy Mayor also oversees the following agencies and offices: the Department of Youth and Community Development, the Office of Food Policy, the Office of Non-Profit Services, the Office of Childcare and Early Childhood Education, the Center for Innovation through Data Intelligence, the Office of Youth Employment, the Children’s Cabinet, and the Commission on Gender Equity.

The Problems You’ll Solve:
The Senior Advisor is an instrumental part of the Strategic Initiatives leadership team that drives work in the areas of neighborhood safety, community partnerships, and organizational capacity building. This individual will help oversee priority initiatives across the agencies and offices, make recommendations, and develop action plans for meeting objectives. The Senior Advisor will serve as a liaison to reporting departments, community organizations, the business community, and other public and private agencies.
  • Assure that projects are consistent with City policy and that the City’s limited resources are deployed appropriately.
  • Lead and/or support other key initiatives that are priorities for the administration, especially in relation to young people and their families.
  • Provide ongoing leadership and project management to oversee progress on implementation.
  • Work with Directors, Commissioners, and department staff to design and implement short- and long-term priorities.
  • Drive policy priorities through government and legislative process Drive policy priorities through government and legislative process.
  • Support the Chief of Staff and Executive Directors of other city-affiliated funds to develop strategic partnerships and community partnerships that advance the priorities of the administration, especially in relation to young people.
  • Lead and/or support other key initiatives that are priorities for the administration.

The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role is $170,000 - $180,000.

Additional Information

Minimum Qual Requirements-

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of satisfactory, relevant, full-time, experience in community planning, community relations, development and organization including one (1) year in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or

2. A satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to “ 1 ” above. However, all candidates must have one (1) year of specialized experience as described in “ 1 ” above.
