Security Officer, Resort Pool

YOUR MISSION (The )

The incumbent in this position is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of guests, staff, and property at the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas - Resort Pool. Security Officers must be friendly, courteous, and levelheaded always, yet fair and firm in resolving potential problems or safety concerns. Security Officers must resolve matters which include public relations, medical emergencies, and criminal incidents while providing exceptional customer service to all. Security Officers must possess effective listening skills, a patient and friendly demeanor, and make good judgment calls in stressful situations. The incumbent in this position will be an integral part of a Security Department dedicated to the promise that our guests leave feeling better.

THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties)

• Assist patrons and employees with directions and proper procedures
• Check identifications for underage persons
• Ensure that Resort Pool and Virgin Hotels LV rules and state regulations are followed by all guests, vendors, and team members always
• Attend all safety/first aid training classes
• Ensure that no guests under the age of 21 possess, purchase, or ingest any alcohol or tobacco products on property
• Compose incident reports and witness statements when necessary
• Report unsafe or hazardous conditions
• Must be physically present at work, in assigned workstation, to perform all functions required of the position
• Assist sick or injured patrons and employees; performs CPR as necessary
• Always maintain order on Virgin Hotels Las Vegas Resort Pool and property

WHAT IT TAKES (The Qualities We Look For)

• Communicate effectively with customers as well as all levels of employees
• Identify and quickly respond to potential problems and conflicts and defend self and others in combative situations
• Be able to assist sick or injured customers and employees
• Lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Work under various supervision styles
• Read and write legible reports
• Work in varying weather conditions: proper clothing provided

MUST HAVE'S

• Must be able to write clear, accurate and concise reports
• Must have effective communication skills
• First Aid, CPR/AED certified
• High School Diploma or equivalent

The skills and certifications required of this position can typically be acquired through two months of on-the-job training, or through related experience.

REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the other duties described herein, every employee has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:

• Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
• Attend required training sessions offered by the JC Hospitality.
• Consult Internal Control Procedures and Policy Manuals for guidance.
• Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the employee's department.
• Report illegal activity to Security or the appropriate levels of Management
• Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.

WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE'S

• Previous experience in guest service preferred

THE WORKING CONDITIONS

• Spends majority of shift at the Resort Pool deck
• Subject to varying levels of crowds and sound depending on customer volume
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking
• Possible exposure to infectious materials
• Exposure to desert heat conditions
• Heavy Lifting on occasion
