Job Description

Cvent is a leading meetings, events and hospitality technology provider with more than 4,800+ employees and nearly 22,000 customers worldwide. Founded in 1999, the company delivers a comprehensive event marketing and management platform for event professionals and offers software solutions to hotels, special event venues and destinations to help them grow their group/MICE and corporate travel business.

The DNA of Cvent is our people, and our culture has an emphasis on fostering intrapreneurship --a system that encourages Cventers to think and act like individual entrepreneurs and empowers them to take action, embrace risk, and make decisions as if they had founded the company themselves. We foster an environment that promotes agility, which means we don’t have the luxury to wait for perfection. At Cvent, we value the diverse perspectives that each individual brings. Whether working with a team of colleagues or with clients, we ensure that we foster a culture that celebrates differences and builds on shared connections.

As a Software Engineer in Test Intern at Cvent, you will be a member of an agile team environment and you will learn, practice, and drive the software quality best practices we use that help make our software the industry leader.  Coordination, planning, execution, automation scripting and driving root cause and corrective actions are only a few of the many activities your work will entail.

Cvent fosters an environment that focuses on continuous self-improvement and learning. By joining you will be given an opportunity to flourish in your new role.  You will be welcomed by like-minded team members and mentored by management that is eager to assist you in your professional development.

You will sit within our Quality Engineering team, and work with Software Engineer Sprint teams, but rather than coding 24/7, you will do functional, automation, performance, and security testing. Beyond testing, you will use your coding skills to debug scripts, automate processes, review developer designs, and more!

  • Perform maintenance and upgrades to existing test environments.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for complex automated testing application design and development issues.
  • Collaborate with product owners, development leads and other stakeholders to understand product specifics and create corresponding test strategies.
  • Provide input to systems and applications developers on testing automation procedures and requirements, schedules, or potential problems.
  • Integrate test code into the CI/CD pipeline, review and monitor test results, and work with developers to fix and resolve identified issues.
  • Participate as an expert in software redesign process assessing software development projects for quality assurance factors affecting functional requirements and design specifications.
  • Create automation testing strategies, leveraging knowledge of industry-standard software development principles.
  • Coaching and mentoring cross-functional scrum teams in automated testing and CI/CD.
  • Develop automated, high-quality test code and scripts utilizing industry-leading tools and frameworks, such as JUnit, Mockito, TestNG, Selenium WebDriver, Postman, etc.
  • Review testing documentation, develop testing standards, define criteria for testing, analyze test results, and present results to developers.
  • Work on enterprise software solutions, where performance, reliability and scalability are critical design goals necessary to run large-scale events.

PLEASE NOTE: This position cannot offer any sponsorship, or exception to the graduation dates listed.

We care more about your attitude and aptitude than the specific tools and technologies you have used in the past. You need to have a strong passion for software quality and must take pride in the software the team is producing.

In addition to this, our ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelors or Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, or related technical degree.
  • Experience with scrum, Oracle, databases, and integration testing
  • Able to code comfortably in Java, and other modern programming languages.
  • Graduation date of May 2024 or Dec 2024
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as you will be presenting complex IT concepts and project metrics to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Most importantly, a successful candidate will be passionate about technology. Keeping up with the latest advancements in the industry; spending time creating, building, and exploring technical projects; an inquisitive attitude in regard to the workings of hardware and software; and overall, simply having fun and finding enjoyment in the field.
