A Brief Summary of This Position:
You will be an individual contributor responsible for leading the sales of the Valmont Solar Tracker and other products within the Solar segment. You will achieve territory revenue goals by sales organization, product, and customer. You will lead the development and promotion of knowledge, acceptance, and use of company products by users and purchasers. You will build and maintain key internal and external relationships. You will establish account strategy for internal team and keeps all levels informed on key issues and opportunities.
Valmont Solar, a business segment of Valmont Industries, Inc., is using our worldwide manufacturing infrastructure and established global supply chain to provide utilities with solar technology options for generating power. Valmont Utility supports and meets the needs of utilities by designing and manufacturing solutions for transmission, distribution, substation and now renewable generation through solar structures and technology such as the Valmont Solar Tracker. This role can be based anywhere remotely in the US.
Essential Functions:
  • Complete pre-bid profile on all opportunities
  • Develop business relationships with potential and new customers, expanding sales coverage in region/customer base
  • Evaluate training needs and co-ordinate with internal resources to develop strategies to meet such needs
  • Analyze account customer data and develop reports based on customer information and development trend
  • Communicate with existing key accounts to understand their needs regarding technical, financial, logistic and marketing support, and organize our resources to meet those needs and identify new business opportunities
  • Lead proposal process – Customer Segmentation, Stakeholder Analysis, SWOT Analysis, and develop account strategy based on account position
  • Manage multi-tiered relationships across customers and our organization to establish a long-term business partnership
  • Exceed assigned revenue goals
  • Identify and promote target engagement of all product families
  • Stay up to date with market information, including competitors and customers benchmarking and technical and financial market requirements
  • Attend sales meetings, conferences and trade shows
  • Maintain skills in: Motivating and Training People; Professional Selling; Negotiation; Data Management; Sales Opportunity Strategy Development; Account Planning; and Networking
  • Travel, typically 25% (primarily domestically) including overnight stays with potential travel up to 50% based on business and customer needs
  • Support the launch activities of new product and services
  • Lead contract negotiations and assist with conflict resolution
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of our sales plan
  • Report to the Regional Director North America Solar and have no direct or indirect reports
  • Focus on forecasting, price management, quote process management, and competitive analysis
  • Provide Voice of the Customer feedback to our organization and drive continuous improvement efforts focused on the customers.
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:
  • Preferred Bachelors with 7+ years of experience in a sales management position with increasing levels of account and territory management responsibilities; or Associates Degree with 9+ years relevant experience; or 11+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with value added selling
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
  • Experience developing and executing account strategies
  • Experience in the industrial sales industry working with commercial/industrial customers
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
  • Solar tracker experience
  • Prior experience working with Utility and EPC customers
  • Seven years of sales management experience

Because of the nature of Valmont's Global Business and Union contracts, not all benefits are the same.
Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Work is typically performed in an office setting. You will be required to sit for extended periods of time, and talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Travel required is typically 25%, with potential of up to 50%, of the time domestically, including overnight stays. You will be required to use hands to handle and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. You will be required to move about the office. You must use proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. You must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Minimum base salary is $95,980 and max is $160,466.
