About the Role

The Sale Coordinator is an integral role in the expert department, supporting the Specialists in the successful delivery of auctions as well as the day to day running of the department.


About the Department

Bonhams' Jewlery department is built upon exceptional expertise. Bonhams has more jewelry auctions in the US than any other auction house and has broken several world records, creating new global price points. Our busy and dynamic team of specialists is made up of qualified gemmologists, jewelry historians and connoisseurs, who are up to date on market trends and regularly collaborate with our global Jewlery teams in Europe, Asia, and Australia. We work closely with other Bonhams departments, from Designer Handbags and Watches to Contemporary Art, to cross-market items to established clients and new collectors.

What you will be doing

  • You will work with Client Services and Operations to support clients with after sale enquiries, including the resolution of payments. You will arrange and facilitate shipping unsold lots.
  • You will also support on many day-to-day auction activities and ensure the department has all it needs to run smoothly and effectively.
  • You will prepare appraisals and proposals as required. This includes managing the offline appraisal tool, imputing all valuation information, photo uploading and renaming and editing all final copy.
  • You will be the department’s experienced user of Auctioneer 3, Bonhams’ bespoke Auction Management System and primary business tool.
  • You will help coordinate the movement of property working with regional offices, shipping, operations, and photography to ensure efficient and compliant inventory transfer.
  • You will support your department with preparing condition reports and condition photography as required.
  • You will be responsible for managing clients and their property throughout the sale cycle, including receipting property into A3, generating, and issuing consignment contracts, requesting, and uploading client details and payment management.
  • You will manage all Department Sell Hub inquiries, communicating directly with clients and connecting all property to specialists who travel to respective regions.
  • You will be the Department’s primary contact for client communication, jewelry repairs and supply orders.

In addition to the tasks and responsibilities listed, you may be required to perform other duties as assigned by your Manager.


Key Skills & Attributes

  • A flexible approach and a willingness to support Departments and teams outside of your core responsibilities
  • Ability to manage workflow and priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Excellent communication in all modes with both internal and external stakeholders
  • 1-2 years in an administrative position (not necessarily from an auction background)
  • Strong time management and organisational ability
