Job Summary:

Provides health screenings with referral and follow-up to students in area Catholic schools in participation with the School District Administrative Claiming Program (SDAC).

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serves as a Hotline for schools by phone or email to answer questions regarding any medical concerns, health questions, immunization questions, medications, injuries and communicable diseases of students or staff in the schools.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Educates secretaries, teachers, and/or principals in medication administration as applicable.
• Participates in the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of student care.
• Follows up with parents who are unresponsive after the first notification letter that is sent in regards to their child's health screening.
• Ensures the well-being of children's health through screenings (hearing, vision, blood pressure and Body Mass Index) and assessments.
• Practices good stewardship by maximizing resources, visiting several schools by geographic area. Engages schools in all areas by working to create health awareness resources for schools.
• Participates in the Health Advisory Committee & Wellness Committee to guide the schools in the review of their wellness plan.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing

EXPERIENCE

• Three years registered nurse experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
• Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Rare crawling and running.
• Occasional driving.
• Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
• Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
• Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
• Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
• Constant standing and walking.
