Full Time, Days. 36 hours/week.
Pay Range is between $85-$95/hr. Rates are market dependent and will be determined at the time of written offer.
- Contracts are 26 weeks.
- Every other Weekend Required.

POSITION SUMMARY
Participates in the accomplishment of Boulder Community Health’s and the Family Birth Center’s mission, vision and goals by utilizing the nursing process to coordinate and provide direct patient care. Is accountable for coordinating the resources needed by patients and families, promotes patient satisfaction and facilitates the achievement of quality clinical and cost outcomes. Ages of patients served include neonates, adolescents, and adults. Interacts in a respectful manner, considerate of age and physical abilities, and provides assistance to individuals in a manner that takes into account their special needs or age-related needs.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)
- ACLS certification for L&D
- BLS certification required.
- NRP for Family Birth Center required.
- Colorado RN license in good standing.
Knowledge, Skill and Ability
- Physical and mental stamina to perform job duties.
- Demonstration of continuum of clinical proficiency.
- Completion of competency-based orientation program specific to the care areas hired for.
- The RN will possess current knowledge and skills in the nursing care that includes theory base in anatomy and physiology, educational information and psychosocial information to respond to the needs of the patients and their families.
- Demonstration of use of nursing process and care pathways or plans
- Provides direct total patient care for specific group of patients with collaboration as needed.
Experience
L&D experience required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment
- The RN is responsible for the assessment of the patients and their families' biopsychosocial and spiritual needs to meet their self-care, educational, environmental, safety and discharge goals.
- The RN is accountable for the assessment of the ancillary staff competencies and appropriateness of delegation for data collection for the above factors.
Planning
- The RN develops and prioritizes care of the patient and family based on the ongoing assessment and use of the individualized care plan in collaboration with the patient and health care team.
- The RN efficiently utilizes available resources including appropriate referrals to follow through on the plan of care.
Implementation
- May be required to perform point of care testing. May be a point of care trainer.
- Mother-Baby, low risk antepartum, postpartum, and well newborns.
- Labor/Delivery/Recovery and high risk antepartum, intrapartum patients and postpartum patients.
- Transitional care of the newborn.
- The RN ensures that the patient and family members are involved in decision-making.
- The RN will delegate tasks/functions to competent care givers.
- Care of the high-risk newborn in Special Care Nursery.
- The RN ensures completion of the interventions and appropriate patient education by demonstrating clinical knowledge for standard therapies as outlined in care guidelines for their areas of training and cross training.
Evaluation
- Adheres to Standard Precautions as appropriate, which may include:
- The RN is accountable for ongoing coordination, evaluation and revision of the patients' plan of care, utilizing feedback from the patient/family and the health care team.
- Hand washing as appropriate.
- Is familiar with organization, department and job specific Environment of Care areas, including Life Safety, Utilities Management, Hazardous Materials Communications, Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control and Medical Equipment Failure.
- Completes annual competencies as required.
- Clearly documents all pertinent aspects of patient in the medical record.
- Communication And Accountability
- Participates in unit/section problem solving and improvement of systems.
- Employees are expected to comply with all regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission Standards.
- Handling and disposing of infectious waste appropriately; and
- It is the expectation that all care providers document accurately and in real time, utilizing the electronic medical record within their department.
- The RN is responsible for the ongoing evaluation of ancillary staff competencies.
- The use of protective barriers, as appropriate (e.g., gloves, masks, gowns, pocket masks, and/or safety glasses);
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- All employees are expected to remain flexible to meet the needs of the hospital, which may include floating to other departments to assist as the patient needs fluctuate.
- Utilizes effective time management skills.
- Keeps updated on information pertinent to the job by attending staff meetings, reading electronic mail, and reading information posted elsewhere for employees.
- Maintains professional appearance and FAMILY BIRTH CENTER dress code.
- Complies with FAMILY BIRTH CENTER guidelines for absence or tardiness.
- Attends all Joint Commission/section required in-services.
