Georgetown’s
Office of Risk Management
works to identify areas of risk and potential liability; and develop risk response strategies to mitigate loss and maximize opportunities. Our vision is to promote a culture of risk awareness by involving all University stakeholders in the day-to-day management of risks. An integral part of this vision is advancing the University’s Enterprise Risk Management process and embedding risk ownership into management activities at all levels of the institution.
Job Overview
The Risk Analyst responds to inquiries involving the University’s Driver Authorization process; and assists with insurance underwriting and other risk management programs and activities.
As well, they serve as the back-up for both the Risk Analyst regarding the University’s claims management process, and for the Business & Contracts Officer regarding University’s Asset Protection Insurance (API) program.
Work Interactions
Reporting to the Director of Insurance and Claims, the Risk Analyst they support the Office of Risk Management’s efforts to implement and manage University-wide programs and activities.
They interact with other Risk Management functional units and staff, including the AVP of Risk Management, Business & Contracts Officer, and Risk Analyst to coordinate the administration of departmental risk management programs.
As well, they have daily direct interaction with various departments across the University’s campuses through the Driver Authorization and API programs - including telephone calls, email, and face-to-face meetings with campus stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • A general knowledge of the principles of risk management, insurance, and claims management
  • Excellent communication and strong organizational skills toward administering a high volume of issues and responding appropriately to various situations
  • Bachelor’s degree [note: consideration will be given and an equivalent combination of formal and professional experience]
  • 0-2 years of experience required [note: consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and work experience]
  • Ability to analyze claims, review insurance requests, and to collect exposure data for underwriting
