Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Manage critical tasks, employees and resources which are involved with the installation and commissioning of NOV equipment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Correctly setup and operate applicable shop machines.
  • Perform SMAW and FCAW welding in accordance with established procedures.
  • Verify alignment of components. Cut steel components using torch or grinder.
  • Performs other work-related tasks as assigned by the Production Manager or the Fabrication Manager/Supervisor.
  • Force components into final position, using crowbars, jacks and hand tools.
  • May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts using cutting torch and tools.
  • Maintain production documentation per required procedure.
  • Lay out, fabricate, assemble and install piping and piping systems.
  • Maintain sufficient knowledge of geometry, arithmetic, structural design, heat effects and allowances for thickness of metal to project location of holes, cuts and bends from blueprints, written and typed instructions and manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Plan and coordinate daily work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work with heavy equipment.
  • Analyzes schematics/blueprints to determine specifications of the components to be constructed.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Pull, push, or pry steel components into position while member is supported.

FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fabricate parts by bolting, clamping, tacking, and welding according to blueprints, shop routers and procedures.
  • Set up and weld parts using welding equipment.
  • Understand and apply NOV Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
  • Must be able to write legibly and know how to set up, operate and maintain welding equipment and tools.
  • Perform other work related tasks as required and assigned.
  • Execute activities following the daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
  • Must maintain production documentation per required procedure. To perform SMAW and FCAW in accordance with established methods and procedures.
  • Perform work tasks with safety as the highest priority, followed by quality, productivity and expedient delivery.
  • Use hand tools and be able to correctly set up and operate applicable machines.
  • Must be able to perform work with minimum supervision and exercise individual initiative and judgment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to read prints and interpret all welding symbols.
  • Successful performance of SMAW and FCAW test coupons in 3G required. 6G preferred.
  • 3+ years practical welding experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to operate Class IV Forklifts (Hyster 50-170).
  • Ability to read and comprehend company schematics/blueprints/diagrams/drawings.
  • Must be able to pass 3G (6G preferred) qualification test in FCAW and SMAW.
  • Ability to operate both Jib and Overhead cranes.
