Management and supervisory skills are crucial to be successful in this position.
This position will serve at the Assistant Manager, will oversee various departments at the park daily, and will serve as the go-to leader for all operations in the absence of the Park Manager.
Duties include:
  • Responsible for identifying means of maintaining and/or growing top line revenue.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the preventative maintenance needs of the park equipment is being performed.
  • Responsible for revenue projections, expense lines and financial reports.
  • Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of Parks technology systems.
  • Fiscal Management:
  • Communicate and support the mission of Kentucky State Parks.
  • Responsible for public relations with internal and external customers.
  • Follow and enforce park policies and procedures.
  • Maintain inventories.
  • Responsible for utilizing forecasting, historical data, and current trends to determine labor needs for scheduling purposes.
  • Facilities/Buildings:
  • Responsible for the operation, care and maintenance of all park buildings, equipment, lands, and facilities.
  • Managing employees and providing leadership:
  • Ensure that all park facilities deliver quality programs.
  • Monitor financial results and make budgetary adjustments as required.
  • Quality service.
  • Develop and guide supervisors.
  • Guest Experience/Service:
  • Oversee and participate in customer service/operational training.
  • Responsible for ensuring all policies and procedures are in place for compliance in cash/handling counts.
  • Oversee all aspects of Personnel (hiring, evaluations, discipline).
  • Monitor department operations for professional attitudes and appearance.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have four years of business administration, public administration or management experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education in business administration, public administration or a related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Any combination of the following experience will substitute for the education on a year for year basis: Experience as the general manager or as the food and beverage director of a full service hotel or resort OR Related experience, which may include serving in hotel management areas, such as: serving as the rooms service manager, front desk manager, housekeeping manager, recreation/activities manager or maintenance manager of a major hotel chain or resort park. Designation as a Certified Hotel Administrator will substitute for one year of the education.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 20 years and one day of age at time of appointment. Must obtain S.T.A.R. (Server Training in Alcohol Regulations) certification from the Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control within six months of appointment. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Primarily working throughout the park and on park grounds; will occasionally require office work.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 12 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
