General Notes
The mission of the Woolfolk Center for Language Research is to develop a population and clinical databases of people across the lifespan with communication impairment. The goal is to determine profiles of persons with communication impairment to support accurate diagnoses of communication disorders and to better understand the commonalities and unique variability among persons with communication disorders. This position has an end date of 8/31/24, renewable based upon, work performance and progress toward goals.
Purpose
This position will coordinate clinical research activities and data acquisition for the Woolfolk Center for Language Research. The speech-language pathologist will possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with clinical participants, ability to work independently with a strong attention to detail, effective oral and written communication skill, and will possess a commitment to professional ethical and practice standards.
Responsibilities
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate research activities and data acquisition.
  • Primary role in the implementation of assessment protocols and establishing a repository of data.
  • Collaborate on writing grants and disseminating research to meet the vision and mission of the Woolfolk Center.
  • Collaborate with Center director and associate director on establishing/maintaining a data management plan and other needs to support the vision of the Center.
  • Manage research administrative tasks such as maintaining regulatory compliance with IRB and federal guidelines, maintain testing materials and coordinating participant payments.
  • Provide the supervision, coordination, and management of graduate and undergraduate research assistants hired to assist with projects.
  • Study Coordination: Recruit participants from Austin and surrounding communities, establish partnerships with area school districts and community centers to support recruitment, and maintain long term relationships with participants to ensure continuity of data.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Six years of related experience. ASHA certified (CCC-SLP) and, possess (or be eligible for) a current Texas license in Speech-Language Pathology. Demonstrated knowledge of language theory, a strong background in child language disorders and assessment procedures, and a working knowledge of applied methodologies. Ability to work independently with strong attention to accuracy and detail. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with clinical participants and their families. Strong verbal and written communication skills and able to communicate clearly with faculty, researchers, interface with the community, and work with graduate and undergraduate research assistants. Demonstrated commitment to professional ethical and practice standards. Readiness to adopt new techniques and practices as determined by leadership. Ability to work with diverse clinical population across lifespan.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Salary Range
$75,000 + depending on qualifications
