Job Description
  • Demonstrate awareness, knowledge, and sensitivity in the area of language acquisition with linguistically and/or culturally diverse populations.
  • Supports scheduling and maintains appropriate records and data (if applicable, including Medicaid billing)
  • Licensure through the Oregon Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
  • Documents student progress, without interpretation of findings, toward meeting established objectives as stated in the IEP and reports this information to the supervising SLP. Reviews and summarizes student performance according to the protocol prescribed by the SLP at the end of each session
  • Knowledgeable about SLP-A licensure guidelines and requirements. Maintains supervision compliance in collaboration with supervising SLP.
  • Address social, academic, and vocational needs that have an impact on attainment of educational goals.
  • Assists the SLP with informal documentation during an intervention session (collecting and tallying data as directed by the SLP), prepares materials and assists with other clerical duties as specified by the supervising SLP.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Provides direct intervention assistance to students as identified by the supervising SLP by following IEP or protocols developed by the supervising SLP, excluding feeding/swallowing.
  • Implement, and support students with the use of augmentative communication devices.
  • Conducts speech and language screenings without interpretation, utilizing screening protocols specified by the supervising SLP.
  • Provide intervention under the direction of supervising SLP, that is appropriate to the age and learning needs of individual students and is selected through an evidence-based decision-making process in accordance with the IEP/IFSP documentation.
  • Conduct hearing screenings, as necessary.
  • Implement a continuum of service delivery models in the least restrictive environment for students with disabilities and implements a variety of service delivery models, including pull-out, and in-class supports.
  • Assists the SLP in collecting and tallying of data for assessment purposes, without interpretation.
  • Associate degree from an accredited speech language pathology assistant program.
  • Signs and initials treatment notes for supervising SLP’s review and signature.
  • Personal vehicle for travel throughout the geographic area of assignment.
  • Ensure that all students receive high quality, culturally, and linguistically sensitive competent services.
  • To perform this job successfully an individual should be proficient with online software / platforms, e-mail, internet, spreadsheets (Excel), Word processing (MS Word), and assistive technology.
