Job Description
We are seeking a Research Nurse who will conduct on-site and home visits (as required) for participants enrolled in studies and will work closely with the study team coordinator to schedule participants for these visits. The nurse will administer inclusion and exclusion review using a standardized clinical assessment tool, and complete vital sign measurements. The nurse will obtain blood specimens and deliver samples to appropriate labs for processing. The nurse will administer the influenza vaccine injection and complete the influenza inoculation form. The nurse will complete the lab requisition form for blood samples and deliver blood and samples to the appropriate lab, as needed. Additionally, the nurse will compensate participants for study visit and complete appropriate documentation. Collection of other study measures, questionnaires, etc., will be dependent on the study visits. Participation in all aspects of conducted study in partnership with other team members in essential.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Ensures all procedures are followed per protocol for study visit.
Screen potential participants for participation in clinical research and recruitment for studies through patient registries and relevant clinics
Ensure the informed consent process for studies, and coordinate participant enrollment and follow-up visits related to each respective study.
Confirms validity of informed consent documents prior to administration of procedures and review inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Performs vital sign measurements and collects blood and specimens.
Completes the blood draw form, lab requisition form for blood samples, and delivers samples to appropriate labs for assay on the same day as collection in a period established per protocol. Administers the influenza vaccine and completes vaccine inoculation forms.
Communicates effectively with participants (e.g., timing and scheduling of home visits, consent information) and with members of the research teams.
Compensates participant for study visit and completes related documentation.
Attends all applicable meetings with the PI and study team members to coordinate research planning, review study progress and disseminate information on a regular basis.
Recognizes and documents adverse events per protocol & ensures reporting to appropriate study and regulatory personnel.
Collection of other study measures (performs assessments, questionnaires, etc.) dependent on the study visits.
Completes data collection forms for the study visits during the visit per protocol/study, and appropriately file them and upload them (as required by the study protocol) to data capturing system such as REDCap.
Delivers all data collected (hard copy; e.g., signed consent forms) to appropriate team member / study location as soon as possible following the visit
Maintains working knowledge of study protocol, procedures and required timelines with guidance and collaboration with other team members
Travel is required.

Requires solid interpersonal skills with participants, principal investigator and study team members.
Works independently and prioritize workload and manage projects effectively.
Applies knowledge of University, federal and local regulations when administering study procedures while adhering to protocol and maintenance of subject safety.
Must be detailed oriented and have the ability to handle multiple complex responsibilities simultaneously.
Ability to make independent decisions.
Minimum Qualifications
Individual must be a registered nurse, licensed in the State of Maryland or state where practicing.
Current CPR certification required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment. Completion of the JHH credentialing process is required prior to start date.
Venipuncture/phlebotomy skills required; experience with difficult blood draw population needed.
Working knowledge of MS Office suite is needed/required, as well as relevant data entry software (e.g., REDCap).
Must be able to work flexible hours with variable work conditions.
Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in study coordination.
Bachelor's degree in nursing or related discipline preferred.
Physical Requirements
Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.
Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with finger3 rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s); for example, using a keyboard.
Communication skills using the spoken word.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
