Job Description
The research coordinator will perform daily functions in the Research Ethics Office related to the IRB.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Taking minutes at committee meetings
  • Preliminary review of research applications
  • Assisting with research document and webpage revisions and procedural changes
  • Review of revised research applications
  • Issuing approvals of research applications upon verification of received revisions
  • Responding to applicant questions via email and phone
  • Assisting with policy and procedure development
  • Provide leadership/mentorship to a team of assistant and research coordinators

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Education and Experience

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with or an understanding of research preparation and procedures (preferred but not required)
  • Preferred: Master’s degree with thesis experience

ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB

Communication and Comprehension

  • Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information
  • Well organized and able to multitask
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to comprehend federal regulations and policies

Problem Solving

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard
  • Regularly required to hear and speak to effectively communicate orally

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled, shared office setting.
