Job Description
At Nautilus, we have a big and important mission: improve the health of millions by unleashing the potential of the proteome to accelerate drug development and enable a new world of precision and personalized medicine. We are developing a single-molecule protein analysis platform of unprecedented sensitivity, scale, and ease of use that we believe will democratize access to the proteome – one of the most dynamic and valuable sources of biological insight. To accomplish this, we are pursuing deep, hard science with an entrepreneurial mindset and creating a world-class team of builders, innovators, and dreamers across a wide range of disciplines.

We are hiring for a Research Associate II to join our growing team. The R&D protein probe discovery Research Associate II will support the research staff in discovering and characterizing affinity reagents using protein assays. The role will require the candidate to identify binders using ELISA from phage display campaigns. As the candidate gains understanding of the processes, they will help in the advancement of candidate molecules to eventually fill the pipeline of necessary binders required to identify the proteome within a given sample.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to authoring Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Test Procedures, Master Batch Records, and other documents
  • Perform campaigns interrogating multiple targets at a time
  • Routinely present results/findings/data to various teams within the company
  • Routinely perform, optimize, and scale multiple formats of medium and high-throughput ELISAs
  • Execute experiments in collaboration with senior research staff
  • Collaborate with multiple teams performing affinity reagent discovery and characterization
  • Assist/conduct phage panning experiments
Requirements

  • 1 year work experience with proteins or cell lines is necessary
  • Experience with high-throughout ELISA's is highly preferred
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science Field
Preferred Skills

  • Experience with antibody assay development and reagent characterization is strongly preferred
  • Experience with performing assays on automated liquid handlers a plus
  • A willingness to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently
  • A desire to wear multiple hats and be flexible with their work schedule
  • Phage display experience is preferred
  • Ability to effectively multitask and work in a fast-pace, goal-oriented environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A willingness to learn and grow within a transformative company
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience measuring probe-protein interactions with ELISA or similar techniques
  • Highly organized with experience in maintaining large reagent catalogues
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
Nautilus Team Culture

  • We are curious go-getters: this is a team of life-long learners who aren’t afraid to tackle the big challenges and we embrace the journey
  • We are easy to work with: we want our workplace to be one where everyone can share their perspective and be treated with respect and kindness
  • We are detail oriented: we do great science by working smart & with diligence where we learn from our trials and mistakes
