Climate Rights International (CRI) is a new organization dedicated to preventing and addressing climate-change related human rights abuses, holding governments, corporations, and financial institutions accountable for climate-related harms, and supporting climate mitigation and adaptation efforts worldwide. CRI is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as an Associate focused primarily on administrative responsibilities, support for fundraising, and, time permitting, research support.
Job Title: Associate
Organization: Climate Rights International (CRI)
Location: San Francisco Bay Area
Position Type: Half-time, likely to progress to full-time
This position reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
1. Administrative Support:
- Act as a primary point of contact for external stakeholders such as accountants, insurance brokers, and web developers.
- Oversee payroll, HR tasks, and contractor payments, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Research and identify new tools and technologies to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Update and maintain the organization's website, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary improvements.
- Monitor day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring smooth functioning and efficiency.
2. Development Support:
- Assist with the writing, submission, and follow-up of grant proposals to foundations and individuals.
- Assist with donor relations, including correspondence, acknowledgments, and reporting.
- Conduct research on individual and institutional donor prospects, compile comprehensive profiles, and maintain donor database.
3.Program and Development Event Management:
- Track invitees and attendees, collect contact information, conduct follow-up.
- Logistics, relevant technology.
4.Communication and Writing:
- Serve as a strong and clear writer, producing high-quality written content for internal and external communications, including newsletters and website updates.
- Coordinate and draft communications with stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and consistency in messaging.
- Assist with social media management, crafting engaging posts, and monitoring online presence.
5.Program Support (time permitting)
- Support the organization's researchers by conducting background research on various topics related to climate change – for example, corporate sustainability commitments, and supply chain analyses.
- Assist in the drafting, editing, and publishing of reports and press releases related to program research.
Requirements:
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with experience conducting background research and data analysis.
- Experience with a nonprofit or advocacy organization is desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based tools.
- Clear willingness to carry out administrative support responsibilities.
- Experience with website management and content management systems is a plus.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with climate change issues, human rights, and sustainability concepts is desirable.
- Commitment to handle sensitive and secure information appropriately, including related to organization finances and program research.
