Alphazyme, a Maravai LifeSciences company, is looking for a Research Associate I to join our growing team. The Research Associate I supports the Company’s enzyme development projects according to internal prioritization and undertakes a variety of laboratory procedures of technical nature. This position will timely and accurately prepare various reagents, such as media, bacterial plates, and competent cells, bacterial stock maintenance, support in any area regarding enzyme expression, as well as maintenance of clean and organized laboratory space and equipment.
Job Duties:

• Adhere to correct procedures, policies and health/safety guidelines
• Interface and productively collaborate with members of cross-organizational teams
• Research relevant topics and gather information/data
• Periodically recommend efficiency improvements to the Company’s development processes to management
• Follow methodologies in carrying routine tasks
• Prepare technical reports
• Performs other functions and duties as required
• Support storage and maintenance of microbial stock cultures
• Document all activities, record results and insert/retrieve data
• Maintain laboratory documentation in accordance with applicable scientific, regulatory, and intellectual property requirements
• Maintain clean work area and equipment
• Execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings
• Provide administrative assistance
• Support laboratory projects as needed
• Keep abreast of industry developments and best practices

Job Qualifications:

• Ability to organize tasks and work independently; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to use science literature and reference texts; and work safely
• Team player, results oriented and able to work in multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
• 1 or more years of experience with protein purification or equivalent laboratory experience
• Exposure to laboratory safety procedures, some microbiological techniques including cloning, bacterial growth, protein expression, and gel electrophoresis, and has familiarity with general laboratory equipment
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology preferred
• Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel is expected
• Experience in solution, buffer and media preparation, laboratory organization, maintenance and safety
• Must be able to record and analyze data and open to learning new laboratory techniques.
