The Research Associate I will perform a variety of clinical specimen collecting, handling, transporting, processing, and storing protocols. Incumbent will need to operate crucial laboratory equipment to process specimens and assists, maintains, and organizes patients’ clinical electronic data files. This position is also responsible for keeping accurate and detailed records of clinical samples, data, maintains and monitors storage units, lab equipment, and regularly stock of lab supplies. Incumbent observes laboratory safety standards and procedures. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintains lab equipment and related records
• Maintains stocks of general lab materials, and places orders for lab equipment and supplies using PeopleSoft
• Observes and complies with safety standards and procedures
• Assists new students and fellows at the laboratory
• Performs a variety of routine laboratory tasks and procedures
• May assist with animal husbandry
• Performs lab maintenance duties, including glassware cleaning and sterilization
• Maintains computer database with relevant clinical information.
• Transports, processes and logs samples

Education

• Bachelors Degree in a Science related field required.

Experience And Skills

• Familiar with routine laboratory procedures and experimental protocols.
• Must possess computer skills to include, but not limited to, Excel and Word.
• Working knowledge of database management, personal computers, and presentation and imaging software
• Understanding of general research objectives
