Evotec Reagents is a growing business unit delivering high quality materials to the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industry. Driven by business demand, our group was launched in Q1 2015 and is rapidly expanding, requiring suitable candidates to join this flagship operation.
The candidate will join a cross-functional team responsible driving science forward through engineering optimal expression of recombinant proteins in bacterial expression systems. This includes scouting for optimal expression conditions, generation of biomass for protein purifications, and streamlining processing procedures to better meet target timelines. The applicant will be part of a team of up to 30 people in recombinant protein expression and purification from eukaryotic and prokaryotic hosts. Candidates will be responsible for the expression of a range of protein targets within the pharmaceutical arena.
The following, relevant skills and experiences are required for this role:

• Familiarity in a variety of expression volumes, ranging from small to fermentation scale.
• It will be an advantage to have experience in protein expression demonstrated through the expression of several types of proteins using a range of methods and affinity tags
• It will be an advantage to have experience working with prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells
• It will be an advantage to have experience with optimization of expression conditions, screening for solubility, activity, and increased levels of expression, in a high throughput fashion
• Experience in working in a biochemistry or molecular biology laboratory, with experience in sterile technique and pipetting

Qualifications

• Must be a dynamic, accurate and innovative self-starter with a flexible approach who enjoys a challenge.
• Basic experience and knowledge in microbiology and relevant techniques
• Enthusiasm, self-motivation, flexibility, and readiness/ability to learn new methods are critical.
• BS in Biological Sciences/Biological Engineering with 1-5 years of experience
• Attention to detail and the ability to follow standard operating procedures and deliver accurate documentation are essential.
• Excellent organizational skills
