Posting Summary


The Center for Women and Work ( CWW ) is leading an ambitious research agenda focused on the child care landscape in New Jersey with funding through the New Jersey Department of Children and Families. CWW is collaborating with the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development and the National Institute for Early Education Research on this project. CWW will begin data collection this fall on the intersection of parental child care preferences and parental job quality/working conditions.


CWW is searching for a bilingual (Spanish/English) part-time research assistant to join our team. Responsibilities include facilitating focus groups (in person) in the field with a diverse range of stakeholders, coding data, and participating in data analysis and drafting reports. The research assistant will also be responsible for translating and transcribing audio recordings from Spanish into English, translating survey data into English, and working with the research team to translate research related documents into Spanish. It is expected that there will be opportunities to co-author reports, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of Rutgers researchers, and work with community stakeholders. It is expected that the research assistant can dedicate up to 20 hours per week starting in late August or early September.


We are looking for someone committed to working with us for up to one academic year, with the possibility of additional time as this is a three-year project involving multiple studies.


  • Training and/or experience in qualitative methods is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with community unions, advocacy groups, recent immigrants, and/or social justice organizations is a plus.
  • Experience working with surveys and survey data is a plus.
