Summary of Job Duties:
The Research Assistant II will carry out experiments under the supervision of a faculty designated by Dr. Edward T.H. Yeh, Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine. Expertise in biochemical and molecular biological techniques are essential for this position. In addition, the research assistant II will carry out genotyping procedure to ensure that Dr. Yeh’s mice colonies have the desired genetic makeup. Furthermore, the research assistant II will monitor laboratory inventory and order supplies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in biology or medical sciences or related field plus four (4) years of research experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Basic computer skills (Windows-based operating system)
• Protein purification, Western blot analysis, plasmid construction, PCR, and genotyping.

Additional Information:
Responsibilities:

• May perform other duties as assigned.
• Work under the direction of a faculty designated by Dr. Edward Yeh to carryout biochemical and molecular biological experiments for the PHOENIX project funded by the National Institute of Health or projects that are of interest to Dr. Edward Yeh.
• Monitor laboratory consumable inventory and make sure that basic laboratory equipment are in good working order.
• Carry out genotyping experiments for the NASP knock-in mice and maintain log of the colonies.
