Job Description
We are currently seeking an innovative individual for a Research and Development Analyst position to support the development of clinical assessment products across our portfolio. Clinical Assessments, the portfolio’s assessment division, is noted for our gold-standard assessment contributions in cognition, memory, neuropsychology, behavior, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, early childhood, personality/psychopathology, and achievement.


The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in research, clinical, or educational settings. This position will report to the Research and Development Manager, and can be remote, or based in our San Antonio, TX, or Bloomington, MN offices.


Responsibilities


The Research and Development Analyst works with a team of professionals – including Research Directors, Product Managers, and Digital Developers – and is responsible for supporting all phases of assessment development created for print and digital formats. The Research and Development Analyst has a range of responsibilities depending on the project. These can include:


  • Collaborating with cross-functional and cross-divisional teams in the development and delivery of new digital assessment solutions.
  • Working on department or company work groups to enhance internal processes and procedures or other initiatives.
  • Working with the project team (publishing, psychometrics, project management, software development) to ensure that all components and deliverables, both in print and digital mediums, are prepared in a timely manner to meet the publication schedule.
  • Developing item art specifications and working with the Design, User Experience, and Production teams to ensure that visual and verbal item stimuli meet both print and software specifications and usability standards.
  • Supporting research and development efforts under the supervision of a Research Director.
  • Collaborating with the Research Director and team members in writing new test items, piloting new materials, or creating product specifications.
  • Conducting literature reviews, and compiling references.
  • Contributing to the development, refinement, maintenance, and quality control of assessments.
  • Drafting, editing, and finalizing record forms, stimulus books, and manuals. This includes writing manual chapters using standard text templates, providing necessary content information for scoring and reporting software programs, and checking for consistency across different components of the test.


Education And Work Experience


  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Research experience or training in research implementation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or educational field from a nationally recognized institution of higher education
  • Familiarity with assessment practices.


Required Skills


  • Self-starter, able to work independently and take the initiative to follow through with tasks
  • Comfortable with technology, with experience, skills, and/or demonstrated ability to utilize technology, mobile and web applications, and software.
  • Understands the requirements of working in a business environment and how this may differ from clinical, educational, or academic practice.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Training in basic research methods and statistics, and/or interest in developing this knowledge.
  • Teamwork mentality: ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary project team
  • The abilities and mental flexibility to take on various tasks as needed to work as part of a team managing multiple products at various stages of development.
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, and business) and ability to communicate moderately complex information to different stakeholders in a way that can be easily understood.
  • Enthusiasm for continually learning more about the test development and publishing process.

  • Editorial experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish & English both spoken and written
  • Critical Thinking: Able to recognize assumptions, evaluate arguments, and draw conclusions that are clear, consistent, sound, and fair and communicate these ideas in constructive and actionable ways.
  • Subject matter expertise in a clinical or educational setting


Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. As required by the Colorado and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:


Minimum full-time salary range is between $60,000-$70,000.
