Mission critical facilities depend on utilities, life safety, security, and building automation control systems to maintain readiness 24/7/365. Simplesense protects critical infrastructure from cyber attack and enables facility managers and operators access to the latest technology as well as previously inaccessible information to monitor, diagnose, and respond faster to events in real-time.

Our team combines over 100 years of direct mission experience solving hard problems with 50 years technical expertise deploying DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and cloud infrastructure, giving us a deep appreciation for our customers’ mission and end users’ priorities. We build for scale, architecting and prioritizing technical work for long term sustainability.

In 2018, Simplesense developed a first-of-its-kind data integration between a Fortune 500 and County 911 department. In 2019, Simplesense won an Air Force Kessel Run pitch competition and AFWERX contracts which led to over $20M of contracts with the Department of Defense. Simplesense is a non-traditional defense contractor and prime on the Air Force's Installation Resilience Operations Command and Control (FA8501-20-9-0011) and Security System Modernization (FA8730-22-C-0019) contracts at Tyndall Air Force Base.

The R&D Engineer:

• Develops prototypes and MVPs for advanced R&D projects
• Investigates new technologies to help determine product viability
• Delivers technical solutions from concept through deployment that address current Simplesense requirements as well as new opportunities to solve customer challenges

Required: Must be a US citizen with ability to obtain a DoD CAC card and NIPR account for access to DoD specific tools and systems.

Simplesense works across the technology spectrum to deliver solutions to our customers. R&D Engineers develop primarily software and cloud solutions that interface with cyber-physical infrastructure. We are hiring for multiple roles working in the below technologies and disciplines. A successful applicant will have knowledge in a few of these areas:

Experience developing with a few of these technologies will benefit dev in our tech stack:

• Linux Networking: Strongswan, advanced configurations with netplan, iptables
• Javascript / Node.js
• GitHub actions
• Ansible
• AWS Cloudformation

Bonus points for experience with:

• Maintaining DoD or US government network environments
• Supporting critical infrastructure networks

Position Details

• Infrequent travel to customer sites
• This position reports to the Director of Engineering as a remote employee.
• Occasional travel to greater Denver, CO metropolitan area or Durango, CO
• Full time

Salary Range: $115,000 - $175,000
