Luminator is seeking to fill our full-time Repair Technician role to join our growing and dynamic Repair Center team where you will be an integral part of the team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and Luminator.

The successful Repair Technician candidate will be part of a team working to expand a strong and proven concept that has solid growth potential, with the opportunity to create substantial shareholder value. You will be responsible for performing advanced system level troubleshooting along with repairs to component level on mobile video, signage, and lighting products for Luminator's transportation partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The successful candidate will have the ability to challenge the organization effectively, resolve problems, and willing to provide a hands-on approach in finding solutions. • Inspect components of equipment for accurate assembly and installation or for defects, such as loose connections or frayed wires.
• Setup and test industrial equipment to ensure that it functions properly.
• Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is necessary.
• Soldering, both through hole and SMT.
• Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• Evaluate message listings and digital content for appropriate formatting for each product type.
• Performs inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair of systems, components, and other products, using established procedures.
• Other job duties as required.
• Proficient in Mechanical Drawing and Electrical Schematics reading.
• Maintain ESD protected areas and all required charts.
• Set up and configure test fixtures, mechanical and/or electrical controls, cabling, power sources, and measuring instruments.
• Troubleshoot and repair to component level Customer returned repairs, both warranty and non-warranty.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Repair Technician will be an experienced candidate who can successfully lead as a very hands-on Test Technician to scale for additional growth and maximize potential.

This candidate will possess:

• Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
• Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
• 3 + years of experience within Repair environments and using general mechanical assembly tools: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, programming tools, etc. required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
• Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
• Monitoring/assessing your performance to make improvements or take corrective action.
• Knowledge of testing, repair, and manufacturing procedures and systems.
• HS Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to read and explain schematics.
• Talking to others to convey information effectively.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• Ability to speak clearly so others comprehend the delivery of the message.
• AS degree is preferred.
• Ability to follow and adhere to OSHA safety guidelines every day.
• Ability to solder through hole and surface mount components.
• Understanding of RS232, RS485, J1708, CAN bus, Ethernet, etc. is a plus
• Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
• Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

LOCATION:

Plano is a city in the state of Texas, just north of downtown Dallas. It is a hub for many corporate headquarters and has been rated by Forbes as the safest city in 2011. Plano has many visitors, 80% of which are business travelers. The Preston Road area is home to major corporate headquarters of Fortune 1000 companies which have brought thousands of jobs to the area.

Plano has two major space reserves: Arbor Hills Nature Preserve (200 acres) and Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve (800 acres). Bob Woodruff Park and Oak Point Park are connected by biking trails providing an abundance of outdoor recreation for families in Plano. These parks also include activities such as zip lining and Tarzan swings. They have five recreation centers that feature pools, dog parks, and amphitheaters for entertainment. This represents 84 parks. They feature an annual balloon festival every September that draws thousands.

Collin College has two campuses in Plano. Southern Methodist University (SMU) and Dallas Baptist University also have campuses in Plano. There are 70 public schools and 16 private schools. Plano has more graduates than other comparable communities in Texas, graduating 93% of their classes, and score 18 percentage points higher than the same population in Dallas. Many graduate as National Merit Scholars.

Plano is served by the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). They provide commuter services via bus and light rail systems. The system is used by 1% of the population.

As far as arts, culture, and entertainment, Plano is home to over 700 restaurants. There is a thriving downtown scene that is rated in the top ten within the country. This includes new office spaces as well as major retail establishments. Plano is a major, busy, bustling city and one of the best places in the United States to live.
