SGT is seeking a Jr. Electrical Engineer to join our team working on projects aligned to secure and modernize the largest infrastructure in the world – the U.S. Federal Government.
Job Summary:
Responsibilities:
- Support the development team in qualifying project opportunities, primarily related to supply-side energy resiliency solutions utilizing traditional generation sources, renewables, battery storage, and microgrid management controls that are compliant with Federal UFC and RMF standards.
- Perform necessary field surveys to develop design packages and energy security assessments.
- Coordinate with vendors and installation contractors for feasibility and pricing verification of proposed project modifications.
- Create one-line diagrams, and perform assessments of customer energy networks, load control, and demand response.
- Prepare and create conceptual designs, assessments, and specifications for equipment necessary for resiliency improvements, Industrial Control Systems, low and medium voltage power systems, protection schemes, and cybersecurity applications.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by providing technical support, analyzing risk, and resolving customer issues.
- Define project scope and deliverables that support project intent, in collaboration with the client and all stakeholders.
- Coordinate power studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and dynamic analysis.
Qualifications:
- Understanding of integration requirements between power, energy, and cybersecurity, with the ability to understand protections schemes and how they relate to implementation in power systems
- Knowledge of electrical substation commissioning.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or other related field OR Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology with 3+ years of work experience
- Ability and willingness to travel
- Knowledge of utility billing, rate schedules, riders, and contracts
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and technical presentation skills
- Familiarity with software such as SKM, ETAP, PSS Sincal, CAD, and MS Office Suite including Visio
- Exposure to project management (e.g., understanding schedules, meeting customer deadlines, ability to take a leadership role, when necessary, etc.)
- Professional registration and/or educational progress toward NETA/PE certifications is preferred.
- Compliance with company, client, industry, trade, and jurisdictional standards, regulations, and codes. Knowledge of DoD UFC and UFGS, NEC, NFPA, NIST, DoDI, NERC CIP, ASHRAE, etc. will be beneficial.
- Modeling and Simulation familiarity using software to perform calculations and analyses
Security Clearance:
- Candidate must be a United States Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance if later required.
Location:
- Candidates with ability to work from a remote location within the United States to be considered
