Registered Nurse (RN) Wound Care

Fast-paced department is looking for top-skilled nurses.

Work location: Texas Health Dallas 8200 Walnut Hill Ln. TX 75231

Work hours: Full-Time | 40 Hours/week | Dayshift | Monday - Friday | 8AM- 5PM

  • Assists staff to maintain current knowledge and competence for WOC patients through orientation, educational programs, role modeling, consultation and review of policies and procedures according to national guidelines.

  • Performs technical procedures safely and proficiently.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
  • Adapts care measures to reflect age-specific and developmental considerations.
  • Collaborates with physicians/staff/patient and family to select appropriate product.
  • Provides pre-operative and post-operative educational information to patient/family considering physical and psychological adaption.

  • Properly administers wound, skin and ostomy care products and is alert to potential problems with products that may vary with age of patients.
  • Assesses the knowledge, skills, and learning needs of team members in relation to the needs and acuity level of patients before the delegation of care.
  • Evaluates patients response to treatment/products and makes adjustments and modifications.
  • Works with other team members to resolve patient issues.
  • Individualizes products to patients needs.
  • The professional nurse exhibits understanding of basic human needs.
  • Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team

  • Recommends standards for cost-effective supplies/equipment related to wound, ostomy and incontinence care to be utilized in the hospital through evaluation and product research studies.

  • Provides consultation and direct assistance to nursing staff for all WOC patients.

  • Working with a Multi-Disciplinary Team

Here’s What You Need

  • WOCN required upon hire
  • OR CWCN required within 6 months of hire
  • Two year experience as a clinical nurse.
  • OR CWOCN required within 6 months of hire
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support and ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support and CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training 60 Days Req
  • RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator and coordinator for quality patient care
  • BSN pref

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process

  • Assesses the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
