This posting will be used to fill current and future full-time Registered Nurse vacancies at the Minnesota Veterans Home - Minneapolis. Shifts to choose from include Day (6:30 am - 3:00 pm), Evening (2:30 pm - 11:00 pm), and Overnight (10:30 pm - 7:00 am).
The Registered Nurse position provides professional registered nurse services in a long-term care, skilled care facility. This position will assess the needs of the residents, suggest appropriate nursing interventions, implement orders and routines, and deliver skilled nursing care. This position may also coordinate, delegate, and review work of other nursing staff members.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.
- Effective communication skills sufficient to provide and follow instructions.
- Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions.
- Computer experience sufficient to complete electronic charting and use basic computer functions such as email.
- Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided by other staff, make, or recommend changes, and provide mentoring.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.
- Ability to teach self-help skills to residents.
- Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques sufficient to provide effective nursing care for residents.
- Ability to make decisions within the scope of nursing responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MDS assessments.
- Geriatric care experience.
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility.
- Long-term care experience.
Additional Requirements
This position requires successful completion of the following:
- A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check will be conducted on finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the DHS background check.
- A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
