- ACLS required within six (6) months of hire unless arranged differently with department manager.
- EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- Time Management: Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments and under pressure.
- Previous Perinatal nursing experience preferred.
- NRP required within six (6) months of hire.
- Current unencumbered Oregon RN license required.
- The LDRP team offers labor, delivery and recovery including post partum and newborn care by a highly trained team of nurses and medical staff in a family centered caring and medically safe environment. All sites are trained in GYN surgical care.
- DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
- Basic Fetal Monitoring skills required.
- The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for utilizing the nursing process to provide safe, age-appropriate, direct and indirect patient care, while practicing within the scope of practice of the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
- Previous experience in Labor and Delivery preferred.
- LCH Postpartum Gynecological Unit:
- LCH LDRP All: Ability to function effectively in crisis situations. Possess critical and independent thinking skills. Basic knowledge of lactation and the initiation of breastfeeding. Knowledge of all perinatal emergency alarms.
- Will train qualified RN with Perinatal experience. Experience or advanced training in caring for the infant in the NICU preferred.
- NRP required within six (6) months of hire.
- STABLE certification required within one (1) year of hire.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Social Perceptiveness: Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics. Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and/or communicating with patients and caregivers. Possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others and a non-judgmental attitude towards persons of differing standards, values, lifestyles, and ages.
- Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues.
- Adaptability/Flexibility: Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to situations that may arise with high risk or diverse patient populations. Ability to adjust actions in relation to others and adapt to offer best possible care to patients.
- LCH LDRP and Nursery:
- Healthcare Provider Level BLS required.
- LCH LDRP and Nursery: Knowledge of the physical and psychological changes of pregnancy, birth and the immediate postpartum period for the mother and her neonate. Knowledge of the physical and psychological changes of the neonate immediately after birth, and during the newborn period. Possess assessment skills specific to the high risk pregnancy. Ability to initiate an intravenous line. Basic knowledge of pharmacodynamics of anesthesia and analgesia. Possess assessment skills specific to the high risk neonate. Knowledge of the physical and psychological changes of pregnancy, birth and the immediate postpartum period for the mother and her neonate. Ability to initiate appropriate interventions in caring for the family.
