Registered Nurse Ii - Ambulatory Operations-Infusion

Summary

Competent level professional nurse who is proficient in delivering care in the ambulatory care setting to infusion patients. Serves as a resource/mentor for Licensed Vocational Nurses, Registered Nurse I's and unlicensed staff members.

The ideal candidate must be a team player, have excellent written, verbal and communication skills, maintain flexibility in working hours, and demonstrate commitment to clinical care by working in a fast-paced environment. Prior familiarity and use of Electronic medical Records (EMR) systems.

Job Duties

• Demonstrates knowledge of safety/infection control practices by complying with established policies and procedures.
• Reports significant changes in patient status to physician/APP and other members of the team in a timely manner specifically in urgent situations.
• Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality and patient safety and provides a positive patient experience.
• Professional assessment skills as applied to the patient, family/support system, and environment.
• Recognizes allergic reactions and how to treat.
• Adheres to the scope of practice as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
• Notifies manager of need for review and/or training related to equipment, procedures, or safety/infection control practices to promote professional growth.
• Familiarize self with the most common infused medications used in the infusion suite.
• Participates in the care of research patients by administering research meds.
• Participates in department meetings as scheduled.
• Performs IV medication administration including but not limited to: IVIG, Ocrevus, Remicade, as well as peripheral or central line access.
• Demonstrates safe practice in the use of equipment.
• Promotes personal safety and a clean and safe environment for patients and coworkers.
• Resourceful in various infusion pumps such as the Braun Infusomat Pump and demonstrates competency with infusion skills.
• Follows an individualized therapy plan provided by the (Physician/APP) and collaborates as needed for each patient .
• Schedules appointments as needed to keep the patients on their correct planned infusion schedule.
• Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
• Documents legibly and according to BCM guidelines and standards.
• Maintains patient records showing systematic assessment, IV lines, nursing note, discharge instructions, etc.
• Practices nursing with high respect for individual, cultural, spiritual and economic differences.
• Participates in all mandatory education in Success Factors and other specified ways per BCM guidelines.
• Prioritizes and organizes work so that assignments are completed in an efficient and timely manner. Identifies and supports basic cost containment and efficiency for patients and the clinic.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a licensed Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Associate's Degree or Bachelor Degree's in Nursing.
• Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
