Duties

The Registered Nurse is under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or other supervisor who provides the administrative supervision and general instruction. The Registered Nurse will function as a key part of the Outpatient Dermatology Clinic along with the PACT templates. Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Provides direct and indirect nursing case to patients and families in an outpatient Primary Care arena.
• Uses advanced clinical knowledge/judgement to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes.
• Demonstrates leadership, experience and creative approaches to management of complex patients.
• Improves professional skills through ongoing participation in staff development activities including conferences, seminars and other training opportunities as indicated.
• Participates in program planning and development, advising the supervisor of shifting trends with caseloads and identifying the need for and making recommendations on program procedure or policy changes as indicated.
• Manages the Veterans who are referred to the Dermatology Outpatient Clinic.
• Serves as a member of the Dermatology health care team with selected patients and provides care to them on a regular and recurring basis.
• Provides medical and health related information about the therapeutic treatments used in the Dermatology Clinic.
