Job Summary:

The Department of Perioperative Services, Recovery Room at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and University Hospital of Brooklyn is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse 2. The successful candidate will:

• Recognize changes in clinical situations, articulates and communicates the patient’s condition to other care providers and makes recommendations for changes in patient care in a timely manner.
• Utilize clinical expertise/evidence-based practice/research-based knowledge/policies and procedures, and patient preference to guide nursing practice.
• Define expected outcomes in terms of the patient, patient values, cultural considerations and continuity of care.
• Evaluate nursing outcomes using data, and revises actions, plans, and goals, as necessary.
• Demonstrate effectiveness in collaborating with nursing colleagues, physicians and other disciplines in the management of patient care.
• Provide relief coverage, and assumes charge nurse responsibilities for designated time period.

Required Qualifications:

• Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse license.
• Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
• 1-year of relevant clinical experience.
