REGIONAL REFERRAL COORDINATOR (JOB ID #8510)

Kearny Mesa - Full-Time

Rady Children’s Physician Management Services (RCPMS) offers exciting opportunities for qualified candidates to join our rapidly growing organization. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of Rady Children’s Hospital and Health Center with just over 500 employees. RCPMS supports primary care pediatricians with 32 office locations throughout San Diego and Southern Riverside Counties.


RCPMS seeks a friendly, motivated, and experienced individual for our open Regional Referral Coordinator position. This is a full-time position.


Full-time hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.


Under the supervision of the assigned Supervisor, the Regional Referral Coordinator ensures the orderly processing of multiple site referrals. Takes responsibility for the quality and quantity of services performed, including referral tracking for the assigned sites. The Regional Referral Coordinator assists with checking eligibility and benefits, processing referrals according to insurance and medical group protocols, providing all necessary medical documentation. Possesses excellent customer service skills and works with patients, families, and other customers in courteous, positive and professional manner.


The Regional Referral Coordinator is a liaison with specialty staff and providers and provides guidance to RCPMS staff on the referral process.


Responsibilities:

  • Provides accurate, complete, and appropriate information to patients regarding appointments, procedures, instructions, and ensures understanding

  • Submit prior authorization requests, as needed, including appropriate documentation, correct insurance forms, and physician documentation when applicable
  • Provides orientation, guidance, mentoring, and training to new referral coordinators and to the sites, as necessary
  • Acts as a resource for providers and co-workers within assigned offices
  • Oversees and ensures proper tracking of the referral report, updating the report daily to the correct status and adding the authorization reason when applicable
  • Checks eligibility and benefits
  • Adheres to and promotes HIPAA guidelines and maintains high level of confidentiality at all times when dealing with patient information
  • Handles difficult patient interactions, answers questions, and responds to complaints professionally and timely

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to deal positively with a wide range of people and personalities and handle tense situations in a diplomatic fashion.
  • Excellent customer service skills both via the phone and in person.
  • Epic EMR experience preferred.
  • A minimum of one year recent experience as a Medical Assistant or Medical Administrative Assistant/Receptionist using an electronic medical records system.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills both with external and internal customers.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

The reasonably expected starting hourly wage range for this position is $22-$24 depending on qualifications including education and relevant experience.
