Job Description
Job Title: Part time Recruitment and Reports To: Teaching Kitchen Senior Intake Specialist Program Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Training Labor Status: Non-Union Approved By/Date: 4/7/2023 Community Servings' mission is to actively engage the community to provide medically tailored, nutritious, scratch-made meals to chronically and critically ill individuals and their families. In addition, we are committed to prioritizing racial and economic justice and health equity in all our programs and business practices. We are a dynamic and fast-growing agency at the forefront of the "Food is Medicine" field, providing over 1M medically tailored meals annually to clients and their families experiencing illness and food insecurity in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, our work strongly focuses on supporting the regional local food system, delivering high-quality nutrition education to the community, and hosting an on-site food-service workforce development program. Over the past 32 years, the agency has provided 11M+ free, scratch-made meals. Community Servings is seeking a community minded, customer service oriented professional to recruit adults who face barriers to employment into our Teaching Kitchen job training program. Reporting to the Teaching Kitchen Senior Program Manager, this position oversees trainee recruitment and intakes. This is a part-time position with flexible work hours totaling 24 hours per week. We actively seek and encourage an inclusive workforce . Recruitment: Create and maintain strategic community connections in order to fulfill recruitment goals set forth by the Teaching Kitchen team. Schedule ~8 hours each week of outreach activities with partner agencies throughout the neighborhoods of Boston as well as some partners in the Greater Boston area. Maintain regular contact with all applicants and potential applicants and track communications in a timely and appropriate manner in Salesforce. Work together with the Teaching Kitchen Senior Program Manager and the Director of Communications to plan for new outreach tools and methods, and to best utilize existing outreach materials. Maintain contact information for all new and existing referral partners and partner agencies in Salesforce. Maintain open channels of communication with Trainee Services Specialist and Senior Program Manager to identify priority populations for outreach, and to share intake information about incoming trainees. Intake: Conduct applicant screening over the phone and schedule applicant interviews. Facilitate kitchen tours and applicant interviews to assess eligibility and fit for the program. Create detailed intake summaries and communication notes in Salesforce. Collect verification documents required for each accepted applicant, per program funder requirements. Participate in new trainee orientation sessions, scheduled once every 6 weeks. QUALIFICATIONS: Lived experiences reflecting those of the Teaching Kitchen trainee population strongly preferred. Experience working with adults facing barriers to employment a plus. Demonstrated coaching style reflecting compassion, wisdom, and integrity. A passion for supporting individuals through challenges including living with a substance use disorder or other mental health challenges, coming home from incarceration, accessing employment with limited work history, English abilities, and/or computer skills, etc. Ability to clearly communicate in writing and speaking to diverse audiences (e.g. community members, potential applicants, referral partners, potential employers) Familiarity with Boston neighborhoods, and enthusiasm for forming connections with community members and community partners. Ability to set and maintain boundaries in a clear and respectful manner. Availability and flexibility to work occasional weekday evenings and weekends to be present at outreach events (scheduled in advance). Willingness and ability to travel to give in person informational presentations and staff recruitment tables at community events (cost of travel reimbursed; sites are mostly accessible on public transit; vehicle ownership not required). Computer proficiency including the use of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, and Dropbox strongly preferred. Familiarity with Salesforce a plus.
