Recreation Worker Jobs

Position Summary: The Recreation Worker is responsible for the facilitation of a wide variety of recreation activities that meets the needs of Vanderheyden, individuals and their families.
Primary Duties & Essential Functions

• Facilitate debriefing of group experiences and the transfer of learning.
• Complete documentation necessary to asses and record progress of individuals served.
• Provide an appropriate environment for the individuals of Vanderheyden in order to carry out their role in the overall treatment program.
• Assumes other appropriate duties as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor.
• Engage in therapeutic interactions with the individuals served.
• Provide on-site recreation for the individuals served.
• Directly responsible for communication all recreation schedules and special events.
• Maintains the use, storage and safe keeping of all recreation equipment and areas.
• Teach experientially skills to promote the physical, psychological, cognitive, social and emotional well-being of individuals served.

Requirements
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience with youth.
• A.A.S. Degree in Recreation, Human Services or other related field preferred.
• Valid New York State driver's license required,.
• Promotes and supports cultural diversity and competence and is strength-based.

Abilities And Working Conditions

• Willingness to respond to the needs of a culturally population
• Must be available to work a 40 hour work week
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds
• Must be able to perform restraints and maintains TCI certification
• Must be able to stand and run for moderate periods of time
• Must have a valid NYS driver's license
