What's Your Day Like As a Recreation Specialist

As a Recreation Specialist with our human services nonprofit, you create a stimulating and inclusive environment. You design and implement a variety of programs, such as games, arts and crafts, sports, and community outings. As a key member of our team, you also work closely with other staff members to collaborate on activity planning and implementation. Clear and effective communication are essential as you provide guidance and assistance to participants during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. You are provided with thorough training and onboarding to ensure you feel confident and prepared for your role.

WHAT'S NEEDED FROM A RECREATION SPECIALIST?

We're looking for someone who can work during the day while meeting the following qualifications:

• Knowledge of OPWDD and ICF regulations preferred
• Associate degree in recreational therapy, human services, or a related field
• 2+ years of database experience required
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• 5+ years of experience in program administration in a social service agency
• Experience or knowledge of the New York State Justice Center preferred
