Job Description

Job Summary:

The Project HOME Receptionist acts as the primary point person for directing individuals to the various services offered in the location. The Receptionist acts as a team lead in monitoring the safety and security of participants, staff, and volunteers by actively observing who is coming in and out of the space and staying in direct communication with staff throughout the building.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcome and support all individuals who come into the Hub, and uphold a standard of a clean, safe, and respectful environment
  • Maintain situational awareness at all times to prevent or quickly respond to incidents or crises that may occur, ensuring a safe environment for all
  • Answer incoming calls, transfer calls as necessary, and take messages
  • Orient participants to services offered onsite, answer questions, and direct the flow of participants to various services
  • Keep an electronic record of individuals using services
  • Become well-acquainted with Hub participants to better serve each individual
  • Monitor participants' usage of phones at the Reception Desk
  • Review camera monitors at Reception Desk for security purposes on a regular basis throughout shift, and notify appropriate personnel if concerns arise
  • Communicate directly with relief staff during shift overlap period to ensure a seamless transition between shifts
  • Review logbook at the beginning of each shift, update as necessary during shift to keep communication flow between staff, and include a brief summary of the shifts happenings before clocking out
  • Accept and distribute donations and deliveries to appropriate departments, and provide donation receipts as necessary
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-3 years of experience performing clerical duties in a social services setting
  • Working knowledge of the drug and alcohol treatment system and/or the behavioral health system
  • Working knowledge of the Philadelphia homeless provider network and social services system
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent listening, communication, collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Ability to deal with resistance effectively

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift or move equipment or materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to push or pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs
