We are hiring for a Reagent Manufacturing Associate I to join our growing team. We are continuing to expand our internal reagent production team to focus on reagent production using several bioconjugation protocols developed at Nautilus. Previous experience in bioconjugation, scale-up, HPLC analysis, or process optimization would be extremely valuable.
You will be involved in developing test reagents for our next generation proteomics platform. You will be working collaboratively with other researchers – both R&D scientists developing new bioconjugation processes and researchers using your reagents on the Nautilus platform. The ability to work collaboratively and accomplish tasks is highly valued.
This position will report to the Senior Manager of Reagent Formulations and is located in San Carlos, CA.
Responsibilities
- Assist in process scale-up to transition from pilot lots to full production-scale manufacturing
- Participate in maintaining production and laboratory equipment, following lab safety standards
- Assist in the development of reagent manufacturing processes and documentation and physical quality specifications and tests
- Assist in production planning, inventory management and material ordering
- Under supervision, assume responsibilities for accuracy, quality, and timeliness of formulation results
- You may work with hazardous materials and chemicals
- Use automation to perform production operations
- Assist in the troubleshooting of issues related to reagents and/or equipment
- You may assist in testing raw materials for reliability and stability
- Assist in the coordination and execution of reagent manufacturing activities utilizing established procedures
- Under supervision, formulate buffers/solutions and prepare reagents with high complexity
- Maintain records and the clean room environment to comply with safety requirements, good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures
- Operate HPLC’s, centrifuges, semi-automated dispensing systems, over-head mixers for reagent formulation and dispensing activities
- You may assist in transferring processes from development to manufacturing
- Under supervision, assume accountability for own work management SOPs, ensuring results are recorded timely, accurately, and consistently, and according to established formats
- Provide support to the manufacturing team to meet production demands
Requirements
- This is an on-site role; Work from home arrangements are not available on a regular basis
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, ability to meet deadlines and work under aggressive timelines
- Strong technical skills, including a working and understanding of molecular biology and biochemistry
- May require lifting up to 25lbs
- Demonstrated attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working in cGMP manufacturing environment with automated dispensing equipment is preferred
- Accurate and precise manual pipetting and measuring techniques
- Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or related, plus a minimum of 1+ years related hands-on lab experience in creating reagents (industry or academic experience)
- Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting, math, and problem-solving skills
- Experience in bioconjugation, scale-up, HPLC analysis, and/or process optimization is preferred
- Experience with Excel

$63,000 - $77,000 a year
The hiring pay range for this position is based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role; title may be assessed one level lower or higher, accordingly. Other components of total compensation include a competitive options grant at the time of hire (with potential for additional grants).
