Salary Range:
$58,296 – 78,116 annually

DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to perform a wide variety of routine analytical and technical duties involved in the handling and analyses of the City's water quality including raw and treated water and/or raw sewage and industrial waste; and to ensure proper compliance with Federal, State and local requirements.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct a variety of chemical and biochemical tests including chlorine residual, turbidity, alkalinity, temperature, and pH.
- Prepare solutions, reagents and standards for various Organic chemical analyses
- Order supplies; perform bottle inventory; prepare bottles and bottle kits; dispose samples and maintain equipment maintenance files
- Calibrate, maintain and monitor various instruments and perform preventative maintenance.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Maintain, clean, and care for laboratory equipment and materials.
- Maintain quality control records (coc’s, logbooks, and laboratory workbooks), calculate data, enter data into LIMS database.
- Operate a variety of laboratory equipment including spectrophotometer, extractors, concentrators, pH meters, turbidimeters, colorimeters, balances, titrators, incubators, calculators, and computers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Work Experience:
Requires one (1) year of experience conducting chemical or biochemical analyses, extracting and processing samples, or related functions in a laboratory environment. Experience conducting Organic prep and analyses of samples is preferred.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Education:
Requires the equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in chemistry, biology or directly related to the core functions of this position
The term “equivalent” means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal time increments for college-level education, for example: one year of additional directly related work experience will substitute for one year of college education (30 credit hours).
