Reading Room Assistant (Monday-Friday 5Pm-9Pm)

Job Summary
This position is 20 hours per week. Schedule will be Monday through Friday, 5:00 p.m. -9pm.
The Reading Room Assistant will be responsible for:

• Answering, screening and routing telephone calls coming into the Reading Room. Recording and forwarding messages to radiologists as necessary. Responding to requests for routine information or assistance within scope of knowledge and authority. Providing status updates on patient/study, and estimate time to completion.
• Monitoring radiologists’ work lists for important notes and ensure radiologists are completing exams in a timely manner—notifying radiologists of any emergent cases.
• Monitoring email for protocol requests, other inquiries, and directing emails to the appropriate radiologist.
• Assisting radiologists in all aspects needed to enhance productive workflow.
• Performing routine administrative duties, such as scanning/photocopying materials and sorting, collating and distributing documents.
• Accurately conveying report information to referring providers.
• Proficiently utilizing various computer systems.
• Serving as liaison with Engineering, ESD, Biomedical Engineering, and Materials Management to resolve equipment, supply, cleaning and safety issues. Follow through on identified problems.
• Preforming initial outreach to referring providers for critical results, transfer calls to radiologists, schedule conference calls if needed.
• Admitting referring providers into the department’s Virtual Reading Room and admit them into the appropriate virtual conference room.
• Supplying the main Reading Room with office supplies.
• Preforming outreach to referring providers for non-critical results, communicating final impressions, direct follow-up questions to the appropriate resource.
• Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with referring providers and radiologists.

To qualify, you must have:

• Ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.
• High school Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
• Experience in healthcare setting preferred.
