Are you passionate about chemistry and want to work for a world-renowned scientist? Do you thrive in a small company environment where you have a larger impact but want the backing of a giant to mitigate risk? Are you ready to change the world through water harvesting and CO2 capture?

You will join the initial small startup R&D team that will be working on technology commercialization and technology transfer from the University of California, Berkeley.

Some Things You Will Do Include

• Evaluate MOF/COF coatings and structured material stability to various process conditions (temperatures, flow rates, mechanical vibrations)
• Participate in collaborative joint research activities with research teams at partner universities
• Analyze and optimize the heat-transfer properties of different binder systems to achieve optimum MOF/COF system scale performance
• Develop binder systems for metal-organic frameworks (MOF) and covalent organic frameworks (COF) materials and cast these materials onto surfaces found in devices, such as heat exchangers, plates, air contactors, and similar engineering equipment, without a loss of MOF/COF gas adsorption performance
• Investigate and determine critical parameters to be addressed for commercialization
• Work with the head of R&D to achieve the department goals of developing commercial-grade MOF/COF-based atmospheric water harvesting technology
• Quantify adsorption capacity and rates of MOF/COF coatings and structured materials as compared to pristine MOF/COF materials

Qualifications

• Experience in synthesis and analysis of MOF and COF materials
• Prior experience binding adsorbents into structured forms/materials, such as integration of adsorbents into polymers, membranes, films, fibers, pellets, or extrudates
• Minimum of 3 years of research experience post the PhD degree
• Strong research background, including peer-reviewed publications
• Proven track record of research activities in the field of MOF and/or COF materials.
• PhD in chemical engineering or chemistry from an accredited institution, along with a demonstrated record of achievement in research
