The R&D Post-Graduate Associate will work with a senior team member to advance certain aspects of specific project(s). The Associate will have both an opportunity to learn hands-on problem-solving skills and will have the opportunity to learn best practices and mindset when working in manufacturing R&D environments. This role will work collaboratively with current R&D team members on departmental R&D projects. Contributions of the R&D Associate can impact various stages of a project, from the design stage to manufacturing scale-up.
How you will make an impact:
- Responsible for accomplishing tasks distributed and agreed upon during project meetings.
- Take a collaborative approach to meeting the goals and deadlines as well as seeking out the necessary assistance. Work in an interdisciplinary team, ranging from other scientists to technicians and engineers.
- Understand the material properties and physical characteristics of the materials being used for testing and experimentation and underlying science and concepts.
- Work independently to accomplish assigned tasks and deliver well-organized results summaries and analysis that follow the scientific method to the research group.
- Carry out hands-on experimental work, operate equipment to test and validate concepts.
The skills and experience you’ll need:
- Currently enrolled in a Science or Engineering graduate level program.
- Self-driven, motivated to learn and expected to be accountable for assigned tasks.
- Mechanical aptitude and a desire to work on chemical processes involved in different aspects of the manufacturing of filters at an R&D/prototype scale to pilot and production scales.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- The ability to utilize basic computer skills is essential including the use of word-processing, spreadsheets, project management software and databases.
- Graduated with a STEM bachelor’s degree.
