Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Imaging and Diffraction group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a R & D Scientist/Engineer.

Our team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off!

Responsibilities Include:

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a full-time staff member to perform the following activities:

  • Ensure that data and analysis generated by the instruments is of high quality and meets the goals of the analysis
  • Collaborate with other scientists to develop new research areas in neutron/gamma/etc. imaging
  • Engage with current and prospective users, both internal and external to INL, that may benefit from scientific instruments for which you serve as Instrument Scientist
  • Work with other Instrument Scientists and Research Associates to develop short and long-range plans for the use and development of each instrument and the development and implementation of data analysis capabilities
  • Adheres to standards for quality of data and proficiency on each instrument and method
  • Ensure efficient instrument utilization by actively interacting and collaborating with Instrument Group Leaders and users
  • Engage with other Instrument Scientists and Research Associates achieve and maintain the highest level of knowledge and proficiency on their instrument(s) through continuous education and active involvement with the international scientific community
  • Perform as Instrument Scientist for neutron imaging instruments, gamma-ray imaging instruments, and other related instruments
  • Work with other Instrument Scientists and Group Leaders on development of scientific capability across instrument platforms

QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience working with radiation (e.g., neutron beam, X-ray, gamma rays)
  • Hands-on research and modeling experience
  • PhD graduate with a degree physics, material science, nuclear engineering or related technical field

  • Salary Grade PR0200 - 210 ($93,492 - $154,212)/ PR0300 - 220 ($107,520 - $177,336)
