- Respond to quality issues by putting in containment actions, full analysis, poka-yokes (error proofing), and implementing short-term and long-term countermeasures.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
- Develop, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility.
- Establish and refine quality sign-off instructions, standards and documentation.
- Implement all relevant procedures described in the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance.
- Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on operational activities.
- Undertake internal and process audits of the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Undertake continuous training and development.
- Direct reports are: Team Leaders and production workers.
- Introduce new systems and procedures where appropriate.
- Update quality documentation and communicate to carry forward lessons learned from quality concerns.
- Identify business improvement opportunities within the organization.
- Ensure that plant schedule for vehicle builds is fulfilled by operation deliverables.
- Produce written reports and make presentations.
- Develop systems and procedures to meet the needs of Production delivery targets.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- Help set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
- Report against agreed quality metrics.
- Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required.
- Ensure KPIs are met.
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice processes. Vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
- Strong team orientation.
- 3+ years supervisory experience in manufacturing environment.
- Ability to set tasks and responsibilities.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and stay within budget.
- Kaizen / continuous improvement process experience.
- Working knowledge in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook programs.
- Leadership skills required.
- A combination of education and experience.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- College Degree preferred.
- OR
- Quick decision making abilities.
- Automotive experience preferred.
