We are excited to announce a leadership opportunity with our Water/Wastewater Practice Team in Atlanta! The Jacobs Team is the largest water practice in the Atlanta market with a team of 125 determined, high-performing individuals working with most major metro-area clients on a vast array of projects. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, growth-minded, industry leading professional to join our team.
Overview
The Water/Wastewater (W/WW) Practice Group Lead role engages in three primary areas of our business: 1) expanding our project portfolio by partnering with our sales teams and client managers 2) leading staff in the Water/Wastewater discipline, and 3) serving as a technical lead for water/wastewater technology to deliver projects and to promote solutions throughout our Southeast footprint. As W/WW Practice Group Lead, your primary responsibility will be to work closely with the ATL Water Leadership team to achieve all three of these objectives, more detail for this vision follows:
Expanding our Portfolio of Work – As Group Leader, you will work closely with our Client Account Manager and our Water Sales Operations Leader to develop strategies to grow our portfolio of water/wastewater projects with existing clients and explore new clients and opportunities throughout the Southeast Region. You will nurture client relationships, contribute to proposal development, and assist with staffing new projects once they are awarded to Jacobs. You will be an integral partner to our sales team in achieving sales goals for our Georgia Operation.
Leading Staff – In this role you will steward a group of 12-15 staff whose careers you will help guide and develop through insight and collaborative planning, and by harnessing strengths with strategic project assignments. Additionally, you will assist Project Managers and GA Water Leadership in balancing the group’s workload to deliver quality projects for our clients. You will be critical in supporting growth by recruiting new talent and expanding the Team. Our W/WW Practice Team has wide expertise in areas such as master planning, feasibility evaluation, modeling, conceptual design, detail design, bench-scale testing, pilot testing, troubleshooting, engineering services during construction, preparing SOPs for drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities, as well as development of tools to support Water/Wastewater Operations such as Electronic Operations Guides and Operational Data Management systems, and our vision is to always be searching for the next opportunity to diversify.
Technical Leadership – You will serve as a technology leader and will network and seek to collaborate with other technologists throughout Jacobs. The Group Leader serves as a key connection point for our ATL Team with other W/WW practices/offices and communities of practice. You will help our sales and delivery team develop technical solutions for our clients and will work closely with other technology leaders to leverage tools and resources to maximize value to our clients. As Group Leader, you should be a champion for incorporating our business accelerators into projects and bringing solution to our clients around consulting and advisory, data solutions, and climate response.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Qualifications - External
- Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus on Water and/or Wastewater treatment, 6+ years relevant work experience as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus on Water and/or Wastewater treatment, 8+ years relevant work experience as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Required Skills and Experience
- Comfort with challenging conversations and conflict resolution
- Project management, people management and client relationship experience
- Empathy and a Day-1 comfort with a culture of caring
- Strong leadership skills including staff development and mentoring
- Previous people leadership experience is a must
- Strong and effective written, verbal and public-speaking skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Entrepreneurial spirit, relentless energy to capture new pursuits and passion to deliver great work products
- Ability to develop new or improved processes and/or technological methods
