Job Description
Job Summary


Under the direct supervision of the Quality Director, the Quality Control Inspector is responsible for monitoring the quality of incoming, in-process, and outgoing products for conformity through the process of measuring, examining, testing or gauging to specified requirements.


Essential Functions


Requirements of this position include, but are not limited to:


  • Promote and support the requirements and principles of the Precise Quality Management System and AS9100.
  • Compile data packages (inspection reports, certifications, C of C) for submittal and/or shipment to the customer.
  • Communicate quality data and non-conformances to appropriate department supervisors and management as required.
  • Interpret inspection data and document results manually or electronically.
  • Receive, inspect, document, and release raw materials for production.
  • Instruct and enforce Precise Tool’s quality procedures and practices.
  • Run existing CMM programs (programmed in Pc-DMIS).
  • Perform Inspections including, receiving, first piece, in-process (both in Quality Assurance and floor inspections) and final, using various inspection equipment and methods (visual, standard measuring tools, surface plate and CMM) to verify compliance to quality requirements and documents.
  • Set-up gages for operators and Quality Assurance.
  • Maintain Quality Assurance records and databases.


Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities


  • Must be able to run a coordinate measuring machine using existing programs in Pc-DMIS.
  • With limited supervision and quality work ethic, functions as a member of a customer-driven quality team whose goal is to ensure that product quality requirements established by the customer have been achieved.
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, to adhere to deadlines and the ability to be flexible.
  • Ability to read drawings and blueprints and be familiar with common machine tools.
  • Maintains adequate levels of performance and motivation despite job tasks that are routine, repetitive, and/or non-stimulating.
  • 1 year of experience operating a CMM for the inspection of precision machined parts using Pc-DMIS or a similar software
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • 3 years of experience inspecting precision machined metal parts
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Must be able to perform manual inspection using standard measuring equipment and methods.
  • Must be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and gages.
  • Ability to keep record of time spent and material used.
  • Holds oneself accountable for doing whatever is needed to meet the commitments made around project outcomes.
  • Thorough operational knowledge and skills of specific equipment to be operated, including inspection equipment.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Statistical Process Control, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directives.
