Job Description

Summary

The Quality Control Associate I is responsible for routine, accurate and timely testing of samples according to standard protocols and operating procedures. Normally receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.
Learning/applying knowledge of immunochemical and immunoassay techniques, they will assist with design of experiments, generate, analyze data, interpret results, and provide conclusions. The Quality Control Associate I will be expected to efficiently prioritize workload and work in an independent manner following both verbal and written directions and guidelines. They will participate in the review of data, reporting results, and efficiently complete all required documentation and database entries. The Quality Control Associate I will be expected to participate in one or more of the following types of activities: performs troubleshooting assays, report results and determine corrective actions under supervisor/manager’s directions. They will be expected to exercise sound judgment and make decisions within defined procedures and practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Expected, where appropriate, to be involved in training other associates in required techniques, operation of equipment, or other relevant group or department procedures or practices and complete proper documentation.
  • Calibrate and maintain equipment. Reports problems to senior associates and/or Supervisor and participates in troubleshoot equipment issues. Maintains logs and required documentation as necessary.
  • Proficient in the trained routine QC techniques, operation of relevant equipment and software packages associated with testing, data analysis, and data reporting.
  • Assists with analyzing and solves problems in Production and Quality Control for existing products, also relating to customer complaints.
  • Promote a safe work environment. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Participate in Environmental, Health & Safety programs. Address corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified. Notify Supervisor and Safety Officer(s) of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices. Keep abreast of the basic requirements for safety compliance in own area of work and complies with those requirements.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
  • Maintain inventories of reference materials or other assay standards. Prepares supplies and reagents and assists with laboratory maintenance as needed.
  • Analyze data and report test results including completion of all required documentation and database entries as required by project expectations and/or operating procedures
  • Evaluates product or process history, performs root cause investigations, corrections, experiments in support of corrective actions. Expected, under supervision, to develop skills and exercise judgment in troubleshooting routine assigned test procedures and in recommending appropriate corrective actions.
  • Routine, accurate and timely completion of all assigned experiments and projects. Will be expected to efficiently prioritize individual workload and work mostly an independent manner within the team environment. Where appropriate, the QC I associate may participate in prioritization of group workload according to business needs.
  • Participate in assigned cross-training activities.
  • Assist with designing, and carries out flow cytometry experiments using human blood, human and animal cell lines and small animal tissue samples.
  • Keeps up to date on job training requirements in own area of work and those areas planned for future work as required.
  • Participate in group or intra-department teams and projects as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working with human blood samples and animal tissue samples.
  • Knowledge of general laboratory safety.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Requires a BS in a related Biological scientific field
  • Previous experience in the use of all common analytical laboratory instrumentation, i.e., flow cytometers is preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of common analytical laboratory instrumentation such as, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, pH meters, microscopes, etc.

There are many factors, such as location, that contribute to the range displayed. The salary offered to a successful candidate is based on experience, education, skills, and actual work location. Salary ranges may vary for Field-based and Remote roles.
